Maintaining proper staff-to-child ratios is a licensing requirement for every childcare center. Neztio helps you monitor ratios through your admin dashboard and per-classroom settings, so you can spot compliance issues at a glance.
Setting Ratios Per Classroom
Ratios are configured at the classroom level. When you create or edit a classroom, you set the room's capacity and the required staff-to-child ratio. Neztio uses these values to calculate whether each room is in compliance based on the current headcount.
- 1Go to Classrooms from the left sidebar.
- 2Click on a classroom to edit it, or click Add Classroom to create a new one.
- 3Set the maximum capacity for the room.
- 4Set the staff-to-child ratio (for example, 1:4 for infants or 1:10 for preschool).
- 5Click Save.
Dashboard Ratio Monitoring
The admin dashboard displays ratio information for each classroom using visual progress bars. Each room shows whether it is in compliance or out of compliance based on the number of checked-in children and assigned staff.
- In-compliance rooms show a green progress bar.
- Out-of-compliance rooms show a red progress bar and appear in the dashboard's attention pills, making them easy to spot.
How Ratios Are Calculated
Neztio divides the number of checked-in children by the number of staff assigned to the classroom. The result is compared against the ratio you configured for that room. When a check-in or check-out happens, the ratio display updates accordingly.
Check your state's licensing requirements for the correct ratios by age group. Common ratios are 1:4 for infants, 1:6 for toddlers, and 1:10 for preschool. Set your classroom ratios to match or exceed these requirements.
