What's New: the in-product release panel

Neztio ships product updates frequently. The What's New panel lets you see what changed without leaving the app. It is available to every user role — admins, managers, lead staff, and staff.

Opening the panel

  1. 1Look for the bell icon in the top bar of the admin portal.
  2. 2If there are unread releases, a small red dot appears on the bell with the unread count.
  3. 3Click the bell. A panel slides in from the right showing recent releases, newest first.

Understanding release entries

  • Major releases get a stronger top label and tend to be the headline updates worth scanning carefully.
  • Minor releases are improvements and smaller features.
  • Patch releases are bug fixes and polish.
  • Each entry has a title, short summary, and (where relevant) a list of specific changes.

Marking releases as read

Viewing the panel automatically clears the red unread dot — there is no separate 'mark as read' button. Whether you close the panel with the X, the Esc key, or by clicking outside it, Neztio remembers the most recent release you have seen and only shows new ones as unread going forward.

Who sees which releases

Releases can be audience-targeted by role. A release with no audience setting is visible to everyone. A release tagged for admins only is hidden from teachers, and vice versa. Up to 25 most recent published releases are shown at a time.

If the bell never shows a red dot, you are caught up on releases. If you want to re-read older releases, just open the panel — historical releases stay listed even after you have seen them.
